SIC ICWC and the Center for Progressive Reforms Join Forces to Strengthen Scientific and Analytical Support for Water and Climate Policy in Central Asia
On June 11, 2026, a working meeting was held between representatives of the Scientific Information Center of the Interstate Commission for Water Coordination (SIC ICWC) and the Center for Progressive Reforms (CPR). M. Aslanov, Director of CPR; A. Rasulov, Deputy Director of CPR; D. Ziganshina, Director of SIC ICWC; and F. Abdullaeva, Head of the Professional Development Division at SIC ICWC took part in the meeting.
During the meeting, the parties identified key areas for cooperation and agreed on the following priority directions:
- Implementation of the NEXUS concept (Water–Energy–Food–Land): Joint development of comprehensive analytical reports and strategic recommendations for the Republic of Uzbekistan and other Central Asian countries.
- Digitalization and the “low-altitude economy” in the water sector: Research and implementation of innovative technological solutions, including integration of Earth observation and remote sensing data.
- Promotion of water and climate reform outcomes: Preparation of joint analytical documents and expert opinions on water management and related sectors.
- Development of expert dialogue: Organization of joint events, including expert forums, round tables focused on regional water, environmental, and climate security issues.
The participants noted that the emerging partnership between the two leading think tanks has the potential to become a platform for strengthening the parties’ scientific expertise and technological capabilities.
