XIIth INTERNATIONAL SYMPOSIUM AND EXHIBITION “PURE WATER OF RUSSIA 2013”

On May 14-16, 2013, the XIIth International Symposium and Exhibition “Pure Water of Russia 2013” was held in Ekaterenburg. The organizers included: Federal Agency of Water Resources, the Government of Sverdlovsk province, Administration of Ekaterenburg City, FGUE “Russian Research Institute of Integrated Water Resources Use and Protection” (FGUE RosNIIVH), OJSC “Vodokanal (Municipal Enterprise of Water Supply and Waste Water Treatment) of Sverdlovsk province”, Ural State Economic University (UrSEU), LLC “Mebiur”.

Traditionally, the Symposium discusses the most urgent objectives that face scientists and manufacturers, authorities for water resources use and protection at all levels: in 2007 – impact of a water factor on living conditions and health of population; in 2009 – transboundary water resources management; in 2011 – ensuring water supply under conditions of water shortage.

The theme of the Symposium 2013 – Implementation of regional water programs under Federal Target Program (FTP) “Development of the Water Sector of the Russian Federation in 2012–2020”.

The exhibition “Pure Water of Russia” opened the event, where numerous exhibits that demonstrated work of companies and organizations aimed at improved water supply and water resources protection in the Russian Federation were presented.

The Symposium was organized as a plenary meeting and a range of sections – “Implementation of FTP”, “Water Supply. New water treatment technologies. Impact of drink water on population health”, “Restoration and environmental rehabilitation of water objects”, “Schemes of integrated water objects use and protection (SKIVO) and FTP”, “Sustainable flood risk management”, “Legal groundwork for water use management”; a conference “Modernization of the water sector: ways of solutions, practice of implementation. Resource-saving technologies as a primary basis for further modernization” and a round table “Power efficient equipment for aeration stations for utility fluids treatment in exchange for energy cost reduction. Power associated contracts”.

Dr. I.F. Beglov, Department Head of SIC ICWC, delivered a report “Information support of the water sector in the Aral Sea Basin” at the “Implementation of FTP goals” section.
