MINISTRY OF AGRICULTURE AND WATER RESOURCES ESTABLISHED IN TURKMENISTAN

The Ministry of Agriculture and Water Resources was established in Turkmenistan as informed the Turkmenistan: Golden Age (online newspaper).

The new-formed Ministry is aimed at fundamental changes in the national agricultural sector and enhancement of its efficiency. Appropriate papers were signed by the President of Turkmenistan at the meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers.

The President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov appointed Mr. N.Sapardurdyev as the Minister of Agriculture and Water Resources. The following Deputy Ministers were appointed as well: A.Myradov – economic and financial issues, M.Ataev – agricultural industry, G.Kulyev – agricultural engineering and machinery, G.Baydjanov – water industry and construction, and S.Yzov – industrial processing of wheat and cotton.

The Head of State approved the structure of the Ministry’s central staff. The Ministry of Agriculture and Water Resources is also obliged to ensure the realization of 6,446 tractors (brand “Belarus”) and 10,334 units of tractor-drawn implements to associations of daikhans (farms) at a residual value under a statutory procedure. The payments should be made at the expense of incomes generated from operation of this equipment and other incomes of daikhans. This property (tractors and implements) was on the balance sheets of the former “Turkmenobahyzmat”.

Enterprises within the jurisdiction of the former State Livestock Union were transferred under the control of the State Food Industry Association of Turkmenistan. The Research Institute of Cotton at the former Ministry of Agriculture, the Research Institute of Farming named after S.A.Niyazov, as well as the Research Institute of Grain Crops at the former “Turkmengallaonumleri” State Enterprise were merged into the Agricultural Research Institute of the Ministry of Agriculture and Water Resources.

STATE COMMITTEE FOR ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION AND LAND RESOURCES ESTABLISHED IN TURKMENISTAN

The State Committee for Environmental Protection and Land Resources was established in Turkmenistan

The Committee is to implement are common policy on environmental protection and land regulation, strengthen control over flora and fauna protection and rational use of land resources.

The leader of the nation appointed M.Annabaev as the Chairman of the State Committee for Environmental Protection and Land Resources and A.Altyev – as the Deputy Chairman.

The State Committee for Environmental Protection and Land Resources was the result of merging of the Ministry of Environmental Protection and the Service of Land Resources at the Ministry of Agriculture.
