REGULAR 68th MEETING OF THE INTERSTATE COMMISSION FOR WATER COORDINATION IN CENTRAL ASIA
The regular 68th meeting of the Interstate Commission for Water Coordination in Central Asia was held in Almaty (Kazakhstan) on the 20th of May 2016. Mr. I.Abishev, Head of the Committee for Water Resources at the Kazakh Ministry of Agriculture chaired the meeting.
The meeting agenda included the following:
1. Reviewing the results of the non-growing season 2015-2016 in Syr Darya and Amu Darya River Basins
2. Discussing and approving the water withdrawal limits (quotas) and the reservoir cascade operation regimes for the next growing season 2016 in Syr Darya and Amu Darya River Basins
3. Presenting proposals and comments received during the process of interdepartmental approval in the member countries of the draft Agreement between the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic, the Republic of Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and the Republic of Uzbekistan on the Information and Analytical Support of Water Management, Use, and Protection in the Aral Sea Basin and the Arrangement of Interstate Exchange of Information; discussing this feedback
4. Presenting the results of the meeting of the GIZ Project Working Group for “Joint Hydrometric Monitoring along Interstate Canals in Syr Darya River Basin”
