76TH REGULAR MEETING OF ICWC
Tashkent, Uzbekistan hosted the 76th regular meeting of the Interstate Commission for Water Coordination (ICWC) of Central Asia on 19 April 2019.
The meeting was chaired by Mr. Sh.R.Khamraev, ICWC member from Uzbekistan. Mr. Ye.N.Nysanbayev, ICWC member from the Republic of Kazakhstan, Mr. S.N.Rakhimzoda, ICWC member from the Republic of Tajikistan, and Mr. B.Baydjanov, ICWC member from Turkmenistan took part in the meeting. The heads of ICWC executive bodies (BWO Amudarya, BWO Syrdarya, SIC ICWC, and Secretariat) and invitees also participated in the meeting.
The agenda included the following items:
1) The results of use of water withdrawal limits and operation regimes of the reservoir cascades in the Syrdarya and Amudarya River basins for the non-growing season 2018-2019;
2) Approval of the country water withdrawal limits and operation regimes of the reservoir cascades in the Syrdarya and Amudarya River basins for the growing season 2019;
3) Participation of the ICWC members and executive bodies in the development of ASBP-4;
4) Agenda and venue of the next 77th meeting of ICWC.
The participants considered the results of use of water withdrawal limits and operation regimes of the reservoir cascades in the Syrdarya and Amudarya River basins over the non-growing season 2018-2019.
Following negotiations, country water withdrawal limits and operation regimes of the reservoir cascade were approved for the Syrdarya and Amudarya River basins for the growing season 2019.
Participation of the ICWC members and executive bodies in the development of ASBP-4 was also addressed.
The next 77th meeting of ICWC is to be held in Nur-Sultan, capital of the Republic of Kazakhstan, in the first half of September 2019.
ICWC members cordially congratulated Prof. V.A.Dukhovniy, SIC ICWC Director, on the occasion of his 85th anniversary.
