REGULAR 77th MEETING OF THE INTERSTATE COMMISSION FOR WATER COORDINATION IN CENTRAL ASIA
Almaty hosted the 77th meeting of the Interstate Commission for Water Coordination (ICWC). Vice-Minister of Ecology, Geology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Kazakhstan Mr. Sergey Gromov, Chairman of the Committee for Water Resources at the Ministry of Ecology of the Republic of Kazakhstan Mr. Arman Turlubek, Minister of Water Management of Uzbekistan Mr. Shavkat Khamraev, Head of the Department of Water and Energy Policy, Science and Technology Development at the Ministry of Energy and Water Resources of the Republic of Tajikistan Mr. Daler Abdurazokzoda, and Deputy Chairman of the State Committee for Water Resources of Turkmenistan Dovletmurad Mammadov participated in the meeting.
The participants discussed the results of the use of water withdrawal limits and operation regimes of reservoir cascades over the growing season 2019 in the Syrdarya and Amudarya River basins.
Based on the results of negotiations, the country water withdrawal limits and forecast operation regime of reservoir cascades were approved for the non-growing season 2019-2020 in the Syrdarya and Amudarya River basins.
The information of SIC ICWC on implementation of initiatives of the Heads of IFAS founder-states voiced at the Summit in Turkmenbashi in August 2018 was also considered.
The next 78th meeting of the Interstate Commission for Water Coordination is to be held in the first ten-day of February in 2020 in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan.
