SIC ICWC DEVELOPS COOPERATION WITH THE POTSDAM INSTITUTE FOR CLIMATE IMPACT RESEARCH
On March 1, 2023, SIC ICWC had an online meeting with Iulii Didovets from the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research. The parties discussed possibilities of cooperation within the framework of the project “Green Vision Central Asia”, which is implemented as part of the “Green Central Asia” program funded by the German Federal Foreign Office. The Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research will deepen scientific understanding of climate impacts and risks to water availability, agricultural production and security in the region and will support strengthening and developing the local capacities.
SIC ICWC staff presented information on their research and experiences in such areas as climate change impact on water formation and use, revision of crop water requirements, as well as information on available databases and knowledge base on water, climate and security.
Eventually, it was agreed to organize a joint workshop, scientific exchanges, arrange application of new climate models and climate change scenarios for Central Asia for testing in pilot river basins.
