MEETING BETWEEN SIC ICWC AND THE PAKISTAN COUNCIL OF RESEARCH IN WATER RESOURCES
The SIC ICWC and the Pakistan Council of Research in Water Resources (PCRWR) held an online meeting on March 3, 2023.
During the introductory part, Ms. Dinara Ziganshina, Director of SIC ICWC gave a brief overview of SCI activities and highlighted the main areas of work, such as research and expert advices; data, information and knowledge management; professional development; networking and cooperation.
The Chairman of the Pakistan Council of Research in Water Resources, Dr. Muhammad Ashraf briefed the participants on the work of the Council, which focuses on: water resources management, water quality, and management of arid land. The PCRWR's experience in using satellite data for groundwater and saline land monitoring stirred interest.
The Deputy Director of SIC ICWC, Sherzod Muminov presented a water security assessment based on the ADB’s approach. As part of pilot research, the water security assessment was conducted in Navoi, Samarkand and Khorezm provinces of Uzbekistan.
Finally, the parties agreed to establish bilateral cooperation and share experience.
