SIC ICWC PARTICIPATED IN THE 32ND ANNUAL MEETING OF THE EBRD BOARD OF GOVERNORS

The 32nd Annual Meeting of the EBRD Board of Governors took place in Samarkand on 16-18 May. The main theme of this year was “Investing in Resilience”.

The event was attended by more than 2000 guests from 73 member states. Among them were representatives of foreign governments, heads of multinational corporations, international financial institutions and banks, renowned experts in economics, investment, finance and technology, as well as representatives of the world's leading media.

More than 50 panel discussions, partner sessions, high-level sessions, press conferences, Bank’s institutional meetings and other events were organized during the meeting. The agenda included the issues of international trade, development of renewables, support for small and medium-sized businesses, digitalization for expanding markets, the EBRD's Green Cities program and prospects for the regional economy.

On the sidelines of the event, a business forum was held and a number of investment agreements and contracts were signed.

At the session “Water – Energy – Land Nexus: nexus solutions for a climate-resilient agrifood system”, the EBRD and OECD presented the focus areas of the forthcoming project "Transforming the Water, Energy and Land Use Nexus in Central Asia" to be implemented by OECD, EBRD, UNECE, FAO and SIC ICWC with the financial support by Germany. The project received support from all the five Central Asian countries earlier at the High-Level Policy Dialogue in Almaty on 16 June 2022.
