SIC ICWC TOOK PART IN THE TRAINING OF SENIOR OFFICIALS FROM MINISTRIES AND AGENCIES OF UZBEKISTAN IN STRATEGIZING WATER DEVELOPMENT

The Strategy “Uzbekistan 2030” approved by the President of Uzbekistan (Presidential Decree UP-158 of 11 September 2023) puts water saving and environmental protection among priorities. In this context, for implementation of the strategy, it is planned to introduce practices of long-term national water balance forecasting, adopt water saving programs and take other actions.

For formulation of a new water strategy of Uzbekistan, the training in basic principles of strategizing water development was held for senior officials from ministries and agencies of Uzbekistan on 29 September – 1 October in Tashkent.

The aim was to provide the audience with a body of theoretical, methodological and technical knowledge on strategizing (strategy development and implementation) and strategic management of water use in Uzbekistan.

The key objectives included:

  • creating foundations of strategic thinking among trainees;
  • training in basic provisions of strategizing theory and methodology;
  • training in key elements and stages of strategy development and implementation;
  • training in principles of development and implementation of sectoral, regional and functional strategies;
  • training in strategic management and leadership.

Director of SIC ICWC Dinara Ziganshina took part in this training event.

Acad. V.L. Kvint and experts of the Center for Strategic Research at the Institute for Mathematical Studies of Complex Systems, Lomonosov Moscow State University spoke before the trainees.



The training program included also three round tables on: "Practices of strategizing water supply and sanitation and water balancing", "Human as an epicenter of strategies", "Analysis of water strategizing practices in the Republic of Uzbekistan."
