CONFERENCE OF THE CIS MEMBER COUNTRY ANALYTICAL CENTERS ON "A NEW AGENDA FOR LONG-TERM COOPERATION"

On 26 September, Director of SIC ICWC, Dinara Ziganshina took part in the conference of the CIS Analytical Centers "A new agenda for long-term cooperation" organized by the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan jointly with the CIS Executive Committee.

Noting the importance of continuing expert dialogue in the context of global tensions and transformations, the participants in their reports emphasized the need for a common vision of long-term cooperation within the CIS and for adaptation measures to the rapidly changing realities.



The participants highly appreciated activities of Uzbekistan as a CIS member, which pursues an open and friendly policy, actively participates in the integration processes of the Commonwealth countries and makes a significant contribution to the development of cooperation between the States.

It was emphasized that the main goal of the CIS and its member states should be the formation of a common, self-sufficient economic cooperation. Cooperation in the field of climate change and food security was highlighted as key areas. It was proposed to create a single agro- industrial market of the CIS, associations of young farmers and industrial co-operations, as well as to introduce a unified Energy Security Risk Index for the member states and establish agrifood centers to fostering sustainable agricultural development in the CIS countries, focusing on economic digitalization.



The experience of Belarus and Azerbaijan in the field of green energy and energy security was presented to the participants. It was noted that it is worth studying the experience of each CIS country in SDG implementation as there is common ground.

The water challenges have been recognized as highly topical at the global level. The prospects for the development of water sector and harmonization of national strategies are currently actively discussed. The water use issues in Central Asia were addressed as well. Particularly, it was stressed that the region needs to modernize its water infrastructure and attract not only "green" but also "blue" financing.

At the conclusion of the conference, the participants expressed that emphasis should be placed on practical efficiency and mutual respect for each other's interests. This would preserve the Commonwealth as a space for dialogue, mutually beneficial cooperation and state development.

Following the conference, the participants acquainted with the activities of the new Centre for Foreign Policy Research and International Innovations at the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
