TRAINING IN MODELING THE WATER RESOURCES SYSTEM WITH PyWR
On 11-13 November, a training-workshop on “Modeling the water resources system with PyWR” was held in SIC ICWC premises. The event was jointly organized by SIC ICWC, the International Water Management Institute (IWMI) and Nexsys Analytics.
Experts from SIC ICWC, IWMI, as well as young researchers from the National Research University “TIIAME” and the Hydrometeorological Research Institute took part in this training.
The objective was to train the participants in water management models, their design and how to use them in water planning and management.
Jose Gonzalez and Julien Harou from the University of Manchester (UK) led the training.
PyWR is a generalized network resource allocation model written in Python that requires advanced programming skills for its use. The model is accessed via the online WaterStrategy user interface
During the first two days, the participants learned how to work with the PyWr model through the WaterStrategy interface. The third day was dedicated to the operation of the PyWR model for the Chirchik River basin. During discussion on application of the model for the Chirchik River basin, the participants raised the modeling issues of interest, corrected errors, and made suggestions for modification of the model structure and adding new objects.
