Meeting with Representatives of the Uzbekcosmos Agency

On 9 December 2025, a meeting with representatives of the Uzbekcosmos Agency was held at the Training Center of SIC ICWC. The Agency was represented by Mr. K. Tashmatov, Project Manager on Water Management, and Mr. Sh. Pardaev, Chief Specialist.

The experts of Uzbekcosmos presented the Agency’s activities and the work of the Space Monitoring and Geoinformation Technologies Center (SMC). They also presented a thematic overview “Space (Bathymetric) Studies of Reservoirs in the Republic of Uzbekistan: Modern Methods.”

Participants addressed several key topics:

• Digitalization and monitoring of water resources;
• Use of satellite data for evapotranspiration analysis (approaches, influencing factors, computer models, and the role in hydrological cycle);
• Promising pilot projects on the improvement of cryospheric information (glaciers, snow cover, and related components).

Given the relevance of the issues discussed, the parties agreed to continue cooperation in two priority areas:

• Joint research on topics of mutual interest
• Capacity building for SIC ICWC specialists in satellite monitoring, GIS platform development, and associated technologies.

These agreements will help expand expert exchange and support the development of new areas for joint research, as well as the practical application of technologies in water and agricultural sectors across Central Asia.
