In Memory of Ismail Khakimovich Jurabekov

On 28 September 2025, Ismail Khakimovich Jurabekov, an Honored Irrigator of Uzbekistan and a renowned expert in water management, passed away at the age of 94.

Ismail Djurabekov was born on September 12, 1931 in Samarkand province.

During the country’s early years of independence, Ismail Jurabekov headed the agro-industrial sector, served as Minister of Civil Defense, held the post of Deputy Prime Minister – Minister of Agriculture and Water Resources from 1994 to 1998, and later served as State Advisor to the President on Agricultural Issues from 2000 to 2004.

After a long break from public service, he returned in 2021 as an advisor to the Minister of Water Management.

Ismail Jurabekov received numerous state awards and honors in recognition of his lifelong contributions, including: Honored Irrigator of the Republic of Uzbekistan (1981), the Order of “Mehnat Shukhrati” (1992), the Order of El-Yurt Khurmati (1994), the Order of Buyuk Khizmatlari Uchun (1996), the honorary title of Honored Builder of the Republic of Uzbekistan (1998), the Order of Dustlik (2017), and the Order of Fidokorona Hizmatlari Uchun (2021).
